The Green Protein Corn Cakes owe their high protein content and the pretty splashes of colour to a 46% legume content: peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas. Corn and pea protein round off the protein snack and provide additional nutrients. The waffles are suitable as a quick snack before or after sport or as a snack between meals with spreads and various toppings.

Healthy corn

49% of protein wafers are made from corn, which is considered one of the healthiest grains.  It is full of fibre, protein and minerals, including potassium, phosphorus and magnesium. Some vitamins and essential amino acids are also found in corn. It stimulates digestion, fills you up, supports the muscles and the cardiovascular system. Compared to other cereals, corn is also gluten-free.

Fit-Food Pulses

Vegan, gluten-free, protein-rich - pulses are the perfect fit food. Our Green Protein wafers contain 46% pulses, including peas, black beans, red lentils and chickpeas. Besides their high protein content, they are also rich in minerals, vitamin C, B1, B6 and folic acid. Their high fibre content ensures a quick feeling of satiety. The biological value of the proteins is doubled if the pulses are combined with corn. This means that dietary protein can be easily converted into the body's own protein.

Powerful pea protein

Pea protein is one of the most easily digestible protein sources. It contains all the essential amino acids and also plenty of iron, zinc, potassium and vitamins B6 and B2. Thus, pea protein plays an important role in muscle building and keeps you full longer when eaten as a snack.

Basically, proteins are the building blocks of all our cells. Protein is also the substance of which muscle tissue is made of. If the muscle is stressed to the point of exhaustion, there must be enough protein to build up new muscle mass. Some of these proteins must be taken in with food. Plant protein can be better absorbed by the body than animal protein. According to the DGE, the daily protein requirement is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, and you need up to 1.5 grams per kilogram to build muscle mass.

Carbohydrates are the main supplier of energy to our body. Like protein and fat, they belong to the so-called macronutrients and form the largest part of our food. Good or complex carbohydrates, for example from oats, are particularly important for endurance sports and muscle building (1). In addition to a high satiation effect, they have a high nutrient density. They are rich in vitamins and minerals, trace elements as well as secondary plant substances that promote performance.

In our Sport Range you will also find three low carb cereals, the Lower Carb Granola and two Grain Free Mueslis. A low-carb diet is particularly suitable for people who want to lose weight in the long term or want to maintain their body weight (2). Protein is a basic component of any balanced diet. Our bodies cannot produce protein themselves, so we need to obtain it from our food. An adequate protein intake is especially important for people who do a lot of physical exercise, because our muscles are largely made of protein.

What are the various sources of protein?

Of course, animal products are not the only source of protein. Our Verival Sport products are made exclusively from plant-based proteins. Nuts and pulses are among the best vegan protein sources, and we've packed plenty of them into our Sport Mueslis. In our Grain-Free Muesli, for example, you'll find sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts, linseeds and sesame seeds.

Will the Green Protein Corn Cakes stay as crunchy as they are in the beginning?

Once the pack is opened and air gets to the corn cakes, they may lose some of their crispness over time. It is therefore important to reseal the pack airtight as soon as your snack attack is over. If the cakes do become a little chewy, they can be baked crispy again in the oven at any time.

What other snacks are available from Verival?

In addition to the Green Protein Corn Cakes, we also offer our popular classic Corn Waffles and the Corn-Quinoa Waffles. Rice Waffles are also available in different variations, e.g. with or without salt, coated with chocolate or with strawberry-yoghurt flavour.
