Oat bran – High in fibre

Oat bran can be assigned to the element metal of the nutritional science of 5-elements. In contrast to oat flakes, oat bran "only" consists of the outer layers and the germ of the oat grain, which, however, contain a condensed ratio of fibre and protein. Oat bran therefore contains up to 50% more fibre than conventional oat flakes. Oat bran also tastes slightly different from oatmeal and brings a slightly nutty note to your porridge.

Fruity Sour Cherry

The sour cherries in porridge represent the element wood. Sour cherries are especially known for their strong anti-inflammatory effect, which was proven in research 50 years ago. They can also help to regulate high blood pressure, as the potassium they contain balances the water and electrolyte balance.

Dark chocolate made in Austria

The chocolate in our Sour Cherry-Cocoa Oat Porridge stands for the element fire and has a high cocoa content of at least 70%. We purchase the chocolate from the "Confiserie Berger", which produces its dark chocolate from high-quality raw materials traded according to fair trade standards in Austria. The delicate fruit notes of cassis and banana as well as a hint of coffee give the fine dark chocolate its special taste.

Vitamins not only strengthen your immune system but are also involved in many important processes in your body, such as building and protecting cells. Together with minerals, vitamins also ensure that your metabolism functions optimally. In order to perfectly cover your vitamin and mineral requirements, a healthy diet is essential, preferably in the morning of course. We took a close look and compared two breakfast favourites. Breakfast is not just breakfast. Some foods provide you with many important nutrients and that extra portion of energy in the morning - others simply make your hunger disappear for a short time. So, a high fibre content is a good indicator that your breakfast will keep you full for a long time. The protein content is also a relevant factor: because protein is not only important for building muscles, but also for many other processes in the body.

Verival Porridge contains 3 times as much protein and fibre as a jam sandwich:

Hot breakfast strengthens from within!

Hot breakfast strengthens from within!

In contrast to cold breakfast, the body has to spend less energy on digesting warm dishes. This relieves your organism, strengthens your immune system and boosts your metabolism. Warm meals are also characterized by an increased bioavailability of the ingredients. This means that the nutrients contained can be absorbed better and faster.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 5-Elements theory?

Also known as the "Philosophy of the Nourishing Cycle", the 5-elements cuisine is a pillar of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its basis is the alternating interaction of the 5 elements wood, fire, earth, metal and water. They nourish, follow and condition each other. Wood becomes fire, fire becomes ashes. Ashes nourish the earth, metal springs from the earth, metal enriches water.

What are the benefits of a diet based on the 5 elements?

The focus of this nutritional science is primarily on the prevention of diseases by strengthening the body through a balanced and wholesome diet. This is intended to contribute to an increased sense of well-being, as food is seen as a remedy that keeps body, mind and soul healthy. Furthermore, this diet can easily be adapted to individual needs, as personal circumstances also play a major role.

Which ingredients are assigned to which element?

The element earth is represented by the sweet figs, crunchy sunflower seeds and almonds as well as the aromatic carob powder. The finely sour cherries and lemon represent the element wood. Oat bran and cinnamon are assigned to the element metal, while fire is represented by dark chocolate and cocoa. The fifth element, water, is complemented by a pinch of salt.

Why does the Oat Porridge only contain 4% of sour cherry?

The 4% share of freeze-dried sour cherries may not seem much at first glance. However, the particularly gentle preservation process removes approx. 85% of the water content from the fruit - but the flavour is fully preserved.

Are there any additional porridge varieties according to TCM?

We currently offer a total of three 5-element porridges. Besides the warming Oat Porridge, you can also try the harmonizing Coconut & Orange Rice Porridge and the slightly cooling Apricot-Strawberry Spelt Porridge.

What is oat bran and what advantages does it have?

Unlike oat flakes, oat bran does not consist of the whole oat grain, but only of the outer layers and the germ of the grain. This means that oat bran contains higher amounts of the soluble fibre beta-glucan, which keeps you full for a long time.

Why Porridge from Verival?

The Verival Porridges are made exclusively from high-quality natural ingredients in organic quality. A further advantage is the quick and uncomplicated preparation, because in only 3 minutes you will have conjured up a full, healthy breakfast on the table.
