The gluten-free oatmeal porridge base is blended with a mix of bananas, dates, linseeds, maca powder and sunflower & pumpkin seed protein powder and cocoa. The Protein Porridge is prepared in only three minutes and provides an optimal energy supply in the morning and especially before doing sports. Because of the high proportion of protein and fibre it gives you lots of strength and energy. Oats are slowly broken down by the body, so the long-term energy supply during your sporting activity is guaranteed.

Powerfood oats

Oats are highlighted by nutritionists as particularly valuable because of their 10 % fibre content, the quality of its carbohydrates, the protein composition, the unsaturated fatty acids and the vitamins and minerals it contains!

Delicious cocoa

Cocoa has many important ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fibre and unsaturated fatty acids. In addition, consumption leads to the release of the neurotransmitters serotonin and endorphin and thus increases well-being and mood. 

Saturating banana

Bananas are full of vitamins and minerals. Besides potassium and magnesium, bananas contain significant amounts of folic acid, iron, copper and beta-carotene. Due to their high carbohydrate content, bananas are very satiating. Pectins, water-soluble fibres which swell in the intestines and slow down digestion, also help to regulate the blood sugar level and support healthy digestion.

Preparation

Put 50 g porridge (6 tbsp) in a bowl and pour over 130 ml boiling water or 90 ml hot milk (depending on the consistency desired). Stir, leave to soak for 3 minutes and enjoy warm. For “Overnight oats“: Add a bit more cold water or cold milk and leave to soak overnight.

Basically, proteins are the building blocks of all our cells. Protein is also the substance of which muscle tissue is made of. If the muscle is stressed to the point of exhaustion, there must be enough protein to build up new muscle mass. Some of these proteins must be taken in with food. Plant protein can be better absorbed by the body than animal protein. According to the DGE, the daily protein requirement is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, and you need up to 1.5 grams per kilogram to build muscle mass.

Oats form the basis of our protein mueslis and protein porridges. Oats not only contain vitamins and minerals, but our oat flakes consist of almost 14 percent protein. Other vegan protein sources in our Sport Range are nuts and pulses.

Carbohydrates are the main supplier of energy to our body. Like protein and fat, they belong to the so-called macronutrients and form the largest part of our food. Good or complex carbohydrates, for example from oats, are particularly important for endurance sports and muscle building (1). In addition to a high satiation effect, they have a high nutrient density. They are rich in vitamins and minerals, trace elements as well as secondary plant substances that promote performance.

In our Sport Range you will also find three low carb cereals, the Lower Carb Granola and two Grain Free Mueslis. A low-carb diet is particularly suitable for people who want to lose weight in the long term or want to maintain their body weight (2). Low-carb products usually have a higher protein content, which makes you feel full on a long-term basis, thus ensuring that fat is broken down more quickly and that we consume fewer calories later in the day.

Why is protein important for people who do sport?

Protein is a basic component of any balanced diet. Our bodies cannot produce protein themselves, so we need to obtain it from our food. Protein helps build muscle and is even supposed to assist with weight loss. An adequate protein intake is especially important for people who do a lot of physical exercise, because our muscles are largely made of protein.

What other products are in the Verival Sport Range?

Our vegan Verival Sport range currently consists of seven products: Among them are our Sport Porridge Chocolate-Banana, the Breakfast Shake Strawberry-Blackberry with high protein content, the Green Protein Corn Cakes, a perfect protein snack for in between, and our cereals: the Grain Free Sport Granola with Nuts, Seeds & Coconut, the Grain Free Sport Muesli Almond Fig, the Sport Muesli Strawberry-Sour Cherry and the Lower Carb Sport Granola Raspberry-Almond-Coconut.

What are the various sources of protein?

Of course, animal products are not the only source of protein. Our Verival Sport products are made exclusively from plant-based proteins. Nuts and pulses are among the best vegan protein sources, and we've packed plenty of them into our Sport Mueslis. In our Grain-Free Muesli, for example, you'll find sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts, linseeds and sesame seeds.

How do I prepare the Sport Porridge?

Simply place 50g (6 tbsp) of porridge mix in a bowl, pour over approx. 100ml of boiling water or 80ml of hot milk or a plant-based alternative (depending on the desired creaminess) and stir well. Leave to soak for 3 minutes and enjoy while hot.

What sources of protein does the Sport Porridge contain?

The extra portion of protein in our Sport Porridge is a blend of exclusively plant-based proteins sourced from seeds and grains. The extra-high protein content of 15g per 100g is derived from gluten-free oat bran, almond drink powder, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and linseed.

Is Verival Sport Porridge sugar free?

Our oatmeal porridge contains Austrian-made vegan chocolate with a cocoa content of 70% – so no, it's not sugar free. However, compared to other porridges on the market the sugar content of just 9.7g per 100g is very low. The freeze-dried fruits in our porridge mixes also contain (natural) fruit sugar. On principle we're very careful about the amount of sugar and other sweeteners in our products, whether added or natural.
